Hey guys, haven't had time yet to root and unlock my hboot. Just wanted to ask if theirs still a fully working one click root for the EVO. I don't really need it but it would save my ass a ton of time. I have a pretty crazy work schedule right now. If so please be kind and just paste a link in a comment. Thanks in advanced :)

i wish there was. keep in mind that as the phone gets older and the more ota's (over the air updates) the phone gets the harder it is to root it. so by now the bootloader is pretty locked down and the methods to root the phone is a little more involved then it used to be.

here is the guide you want:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html

please read it very carefully and allow about an hour or more just in case you need to trouble shoot.

feel free to ask questions if you have them.....good luck.

Hold on what's your hboot

well if it is hboot 2.10 and up it is not really a one click. the one click method was before froyo when the og evo had ecclair.

yes running unrevoked or revolutionary is sort of one click, but it is not that simple as the actual one click method.

most phones should be up to date as the guide i linked will work.however if the hboot is different then the guide will have links to the right root guide.

I have hboot .80 I can root with the dummies guide but I was just curious about the one click root. Thanks for the info and the link though :)

It says
Locked (oow)
S-on
Hboot 2.18<--- I apologies for putting it was hboot 2.80 that was a noob mistake of mine. Should always double check.
Radio 2.15.0012.19

Like I've said I can root it no problem, I am just wondering about an auto root.

I did find a program though...

Go to
WWW.rescueroot.com

It's sopose to be a one click universal root tool. It's in beta stages but open for the puplic. Don't wanna use it till I learn more about it.

Not worth the $30 IMHO. Once you learn the "hard" way to root, you will have more control over your phone. Rooting is something that takes research and is not recommended if you want something fast and easy like the iPhones's jailbreaking moneysucking processes.

Well, the link that Ocn provided earlier will work and it's FREE!
And you have all the free support you need here:D
I read thru that link you posted....interesting I must say:)

Just let us know when you are ready or what you decide to do:)

Hi, I'm one of the creators on Rescue Root. Thanks for your interest in our program. To clarify a little more on the beta I can confirm that as of this moment, your HTC Evo 4G would not work. This is because we have not yet added the ability for the program to unlock HTC bootloaders. I'd expect it to be done around Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions about the program.

hello rescue root and welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!

curious as this is the first time i have heard of your service. is this a free service? and i was wondering if you can explain exactly as to how you will root the evo 4g? is it just unlocking the bootloader? does it install a recovery as well?
or do you get fully s-off?

and thanx for the clarification.

I'll try not to engage in any shameless self promotion. It's no surprise you wouldn't have heard of the product as we just launched the public beta late last night. For the sake of simplicity across HTC devices, the version we'll be releasing mid week roots just by unlocking the bootloader and rooting via script. We generally try not to install custom recoveries aside from when necessary.

To clarify on the pricing, the way the software works is that unlike other one click root programs it is based off of a database that stores all the exploits, adb drivers, and offsets by device. This allows us to tailor and optimize the way that the program roots phones based off of previous successes and failures. The product only charges for phones where our database optimized the process to where we have complete confidence of being able to root the phone. For all others, it is free. During the public beta, the product will be 100% free for all users.

nice!!!!! i like the 100% free part.....LOL

ok you might want to mention this on your site about recoveries and also i would mention about how it roots per phone. know that it is unlocked vs getting s-off is something folks should know about.

i just think that the more info the better support you can provide to your customers. maybe put this under the faq section. i noticed that it is blank anyways.....just some suggestions.

I had the hardest time getting unrevoked to work. You have to enter a code in that you get online, and it had an "l" or an "I" in it. I can't tell the difference between a lowercase L or an uppercase I. I eventually figured out how to copy/paste into command prompt, and it was all flawless from that point on.

EDIT:

I think I mistyped. I recall using Revolutionary, not Unrevoked to unlock my EVO

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated, and quite accurate. We are in the process of building out considerably more documentation regarding the product, including the currently blank FAQ which you mentioned. Our site and product are currently a work in progress, which we aim to improve substantially over the coming days and weeks.

Sick!!! I'm glad my post caught some attention.
@ rescue root.
Coming to these forums was your best move. Your gonna get priceless feed back from both experienced Devs and noobies. As well as testers like me. :)

As I've mentioned, I can pull a root and unlock off but I always try and look for simpler solutions. It's 3:25 am here in so cal n I just got home from work. Still haven't rooted my EVO but come Tuesday... I'll have nothing but free time :)

Also, rescue root. Are you willing to let Devs here mod your software and add ideas to it? After all it is a root program and I know it may seem that I'm asking for a lot but adding a custom recovery to the rooting procedure and maybe some top custom roms to choose from to be flashed would go great with it. If of course its possible.

Currently Rescue Root is strictly rooting (along with backup/restore and unrooting) for the sake of trying to support as many phones as possible. It is closed source, but we do welcome input from developers in the form of device specific root scripts that can be wrapped in exe files and run without needing any user input. Given that it is retail software, we are also quite happy to pay for that.
