Help Phone dies shortly after booting up.

The title says it all. I'm not sure if the update to DLO9 that I got this morning is related bc I used the phone all day. Basically, when I turn the phone on it boots to the Verizon animation, then the display turns off and the capacitive buttons remain lit. I just bought this phone yesterday! I was looking forward to rooting but now I just want a functional phone. Has anyone experienced this problem? FYI this phone had a previous owner. Thank you!

A factory data reset via the blue boot menu is probably the best way to go now, AVP.

Hold both the volume up and down keys while pressing the power key until the Samsung logo appears, then release and wait for the menu.

Use the volume down key to select the "wipe: factory reset" menu item, then touch the home key.

You'll need to reconfigure everything, of course, but your device will be restored to normal function (if all goes as intended ;)). Be patient .. go slowly.

I've already tried the hard reset and it still doesn't work. I'm not sure if it is a battery, hardware, or software issue. After I do the hard reset its starts the process then stops and says...

"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmblk0p1 (Invalid argument)
E:Install_application_for_customer:Can't mount DATA:

Your storage not prepared yet. Please use UI menu for format and reboot actions."

That was following the last update?

I would not hesitate to take the device into a Verizon store for replacement.

Replacement of the phone? I bought it off the web by a previous owner. What do you think the issue is?

Yeah, I got the OTA update yesterday morning and by mid afternoon it wasn't working. I'm not 100% sure they are connected but who knows. The previous owner could have rooted the phone or done something to it I'm not aware of. Do you know what issue it is (SD card, software, or hardware) by what I described? Thank you.

Those are serious error messages. The SD card could very well be the issue, but I'm doubting that.

That would be pretty easy to test. ;)

You have nothing to lose at this point. Put the SD card in your PC. Format it. Get yourself odin and the files needed and put it back to stock. Sounds like the previous owner may have tried doing something to it and screwed it up, then sold it off.

If you need all the files i have a them all compiled in a folder. With direction.PM me and I can email them to you.

Or, fight the jerk through Ebay and get your cash back. I hate liar sellers.
