Root Please explain Root

Ok, Sorry I am a newbie to the rooting thing.. I've played with the os on my Razr a while back. It sounds like the same thing, unlocking it so you can hack it.

1) Is there a way to unroot? (put it back if I have to return it to the store?)
2) Will this prevent updates to the os (2.2) when it comes out?

1.) Once root is available, there should be a way to reverse the process. But since there is no root for it yet, wait for it.

2.) If you do root it, and load custom ROM and the new 2.2 update comes out, it will be in your best interest to update to 2.2, either via the stock upgrade or via a custom 2.2 ROM.
