Poeple waiting for the new firmware but what about T-Mob users?

Hey,

I have a HTC Hero or G2 Touch as they are called on T-Mobile, so I am guessing they are not unlocked (haven't tried another sim card) but I am sure they are not unlocked.

Does anyone know what the deal with the new firmware is for people like me? Do I have to wait till its released by HTC and then T-Mobile will do something with it and release it etc?

Thanks.

why don't you just get the custom firmware?

(a) Not everyone is happy voiding the warranty on their phone.
(b) Not everyone is comfortable with the risk, however slight.
(c) Not everyone wants/needs the added complications of root etc

true...
in that case. I know for the Blackberry, I had to wait for ATT to approve it. But, after that, I was able to download it from the RIM website. Don't quite, know about tmobile. Assume that it would be a similar process.

In anycase...I thought I read on this forum somewhere that the updates were starting to roll out in Sweden or something...maybe within the next week or so...you might have the update.

Yep that's right, I am just worried about voiding my warranty, I do have insurance but have not read the details yet about replacement for bricking the thing, which is probably not covered, unless I said it messed up on its own. And I am just after the new update to get rid of the lag really, apart from the lag the phone is working 100% perfect for me.

Well the way I see it is that both T-mobile and Orange pass on the data to HTC, of what they want included with the serial numbers of the phones they each give. This way when you sign into the HTC forum, it knows what correct update to give you for the network you are on.

This is what I guess should happen anyway.
