Question about google contact management

I have been away from andriod for a little while (G1). What I have noticed with the vibrant is that the contact has to be a local "phone" contact in order to set a custom ringtone. Here is my question, all of my contacts are either google or facebook contacts. I have to re-create the contact as a phone contact and link the profiles together in order to set the ringtone. Is there a way to push the google contacts to the phone and save them as "phone" contacts instead of google ones? (kinda like on the G1)
