Root Rooted GB and phone is getting angry. help?

So, about 3 weeks ago I upgraded to the rooted Gingerbread that was available, the one where you install 3 files in order. Now, the phone gets really slow at times.

Also, my texting is going haywire. It wont show text when I type sometimes, other times it wont let me touch to go back and edit text. Its really bonkers.

When I put the phone on my media station, it restarts every time. That is very annoying.

When I wake it up, it is really sluggish.

Things seem to progressively get worse. At first it was great, but now it is getting very annoying/frustrating.

Has anyone else experienced these issues? How can I make the phone stop acting dumb like this?

Thanks for any and all help!!

if you want it to act perfect or near perfect, then go back to stock or wait for the official release. i'm running .591 and very satisfied.

Can I install over what I have? Everytime I hit space it freaking closes
Probably. What version of gingerbread are you running right now?

If its .588 or .591, just upgrade to .595 deodexed by flashing right over what you have now.

If its .577, you will need to backup, sbf, upgrade to .588, then upgrade to .595.

This texting is annoying! It does it in facebook now too, and everywhere I type stuff in. It just freakes out when I hit space, and closes the typing box. UGH!

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

thats the download place for the .595 deodexed file.

what you'll want to do is place that file on your SD Card
open up D2 Bootstrap and reboot into CWM
wipe data/reset (some say you don't have to when going from .588 to .595)
install the .595 zip file
then reboot

and of course, as always, BEFORE you do anything, make a backup

and from what we've heard, you'll have to be on FroYo to accept the OTA, so we'll be sbf'ing back anyways

On here: Latest Gingerbread 2.3.3 build (4.5.595) Official Upgrade Path | DroidModderX

Says that we can upgrade to the stock .595 gingerbread and we can still accept the OTA Gingerbread when it comes out. Not true?

As far as I know, if you make a backup of your apps with Titanium Backup, and after you've got the new OS version/ROM/theme loaded, you can then restore all your apps and data and not lose anything. Text messages are another thing though, and you will lose them. Another thing with Titanium Backup, only backup your apps, DON'T backup system data if you're going to something new (i.e. a new ROM) or else you'll get force closes.

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD THIS TEXTING IS STILL ****ED!

Im now on 595 and the texting application is still ****ed. What do I do? How should I go about fixing it? This is annoying as shit to say the least. Can I go through and reinstall the series of GB zips overtop of this or no?

Hmmm..... I really don't know what to do now. Have you tried a 3rd party messaging app like Handcent or GoSMS to see if its the stock text app thats the problem?

The stock texting application isn't working right after you installed gingerbread?

I have no idea what might be causing that. If I were you I'd back all my stuff up with Titanium Backup and just do a factory reset. Make sure that the problem is fixed before I started restoring my apps.

Only restore a Froyo backup on top of gingerbread if you feel like bricking your phone.

No. I meant you should just do a data wipe on your gingerbread install. The "factory data reset" option under settings-> privacy. If you wanted to try starting all the way back at FroYo, you will need to SBF. There is no other way to go GB->Froyo other than SBFing.

I sbf-ed. Everything is gone. FML. well, new phone I guess!

Next question: phone is clean, SD card is not. I have backed up pics and stuff I want on my computer, can I just delete the whole card now or are there special operating stuff on there I would f myself over if I deleted? I want the SD card wiped and clean too.

you can always re-root, reflash .588, and then reflash .595. Something got a little wonky on your previous install that caused your problems, the likelihood that it happens again is almost nil.

And I'm glad the texting problem was software related, and not something that would make you have to get a replacement phone.
