s9 micro sd card, and how to format on a mac

I'm using a 64gb SanDisk Extreme micro sdxc card in my s9+. Worked fine until recently. Device failed to re-format it. Tried it on my mac (OSx El Capitan 10.11.6) using a reader and disk utility, and realized I had only one file system option: fat32. Tried twice, failed. Even if it had succeeded, I would not have wanted to be limited to 4gb files.
It sounds like android takes sdxc cards in exFAT, but I'd like to confirm with someone. Google holds no answers it seems. If so, how do I format it using my mac? The s9 won't read it at all now.

The S9 Plus should support exFAT formatted micro-SDs, and MacOS El Capitan can as well, including formatting using the Disk Utility. However if both the phone and Mac are both failing to format your SanDisk Extreme, it sounds like its gone bad and needs replacing. Micro-SDs can and do fail.

You may be right... I still can't explain why disk utility won't even erase the files when it formats it to exFAT. Yet, the mac reads the files fine. Mostly videos and pictures.

The Micro SD is not working properly on my iPhone X. The main issue is iTunes error 9. How can I fix it properly?

Well the usual "fix" for suspect micro-SD is to try a replacement, especially if its failed to work and format on the phone and computer.

IPhone X doesn't take micro-SD AFAIK, how did you use it on that?
