skype for Desire

Hi have had my Desire for a few months and my daughter has an iphone she has just moved to America I can skype her on my computer but would like to do instant messaging with her on my phone looked at skype and saw the Desire isnt compatable people have mentioned something called nimbuzz does she have to be on that as well as she has skype on her iphone also is it completely free to instant message if I put Nimbuzz on my phone. Am new with smartphones so a non technical answer would be appreciated. Forgot to say am on Vodafone.

Nimbuzz can send Skype messages and call's, for free. Thought Wifi should be used for voice calls. She only needs to have Skype loaded on her phone.
