If you downloaded something or installed an app (either side loading or an app from the Play Store that Google missed accidentally) that was infected, then yes.

I side load a lot (shameful I know :( ) and I would have Lookout installed off and on. Now I just keep it installed to check my apps and that's it.

Did you change anything under the "Developer options"?

No I haven't changed anything there...buy was wondering if it was an apex issue..but if I do have a virus can I get rid of it to return my phone to normal

Yea. There is a slew of free anti virus apps in the Play store. It also could be an Apex issue like you were saying.

Pirated apps are the cause of the vast majority of android malware. As long as you download from the play store or other legitimate sites you are about as safe as can be.

If you do happen to be pirating apps, I'd suggest supporting your developers. :)

Google scans the apps in the play store regularly for malware and they are actually introducing a client side part of this soon.

What do you mean by 'introducing a client side'?

As in on your device.

Speculation:
Its actually probably going to be another way for them to monitor pirated apps, but it'll act as a malware scanner as well

Got you. I was a little confused at first but I read somewhere about the same subject. It's definitely great for developers so their apps won't be pirated and they get the money they worked for but will suck for the broke and people who just don't want to pay lol

Yeah Idownloaded Norton and an avg one it scanned and it said everything was good, but I get those advertisement so I'm not sure if it's that..maybe I needed to reload apex thanks you all for your responses

Those adverts are probably from a specific app. Some developers implement push ads which is ridiculously annoying. I try to find an equivalent without those types of ads. I'd rather deal with in app ads then that crap lol

Yeah you're prob right..I tweaked some of the settings on apex for my home page and things seem a bit smoother....the video issue...I was playing a sports clip on espn, really it was espn, lol and the video was playing but the little loading icon was playing in the middler of thevideo and one day my keyboard flipped out on me and wouldn't leave my screen...so everything seems ok for the moment

Which keyboard were you using? I've been using Swiftkey 3 (side loaded at the beginning then actually purchased :P ) and it would randomly mess up but I think it was app related. As far as your video it could've been trying to buffer and play at the same time? Rarely YouTube will do that to me if I'm on 3G in a terrible coverage area, lol.

Anywho, I'm glad everything is working now!
