Screen flickering is a common issue on CM/AOSP roms for the S3. Go into development and disable hardware overlay. This has to be done every time you reboot.
About the small screen Swype, ParanoidAndroid allows you to change the dpi or size of apps to make them believe their on a tablet. Go back to the original thread and watch the videos there if their are any and read the entire first thread. It should give you some inside about what the developer was trying to do.
