Root [Sprint/Cricket] Wifi Tether for super users not working

edellow

Lurker
Has anyone gotten wi tethering working on the S3? I just rooted my phone specifically to use Wifi Tether for Super users. I used this all the time on my EVO 4G

The rooting process went smoothly so I installed tethering which also went smoothly. The problem I have now is that neither my laptop or Thrive tablet see the SSID of my phone

Any help would be appreciated.

[HOW TO] Root, Unroot, Hotspot, Roms, Tips and more! (8 videos) 7/2/12 - xda-developers watch the video link on this page it worked for me no problems.

Thanks Hunter. Setting the profile suggested in the video fixed my problem. I tried Galaxy S2 but that didn't work.

T-Mobile S3 here, and I should report that I had success choosing the Galaxy Nexus (GSM) device profile. The Galaxy S2 profile did not work for me either.

I followed the youtube instructions and was able to get wifi tether working but not all the time. I find that every time I try and use it for the first time, my computer will not see the SSID. I have tried different profiles (like Nexus GSM), different frequencies, etc., but nothing seems to help. I have to reboot my phone and then it works. Sometimes, I have to reboot more than once but eventually it will work correctly and I am good until the next time I try to use it. Is there anyone else having this problem or is it just me? Any ideas anyone?

Mine is hit and miss also.
I haven't had to reboot but I do have to close the app and then open it again............sometimes more than once

I can usually tell when it's not going to connect by how long it takes to 'start tethering'

Mine did update the other day, I thought I had it set to never update, but apparently not....lol
It is Version 3.2-beta1 and it seems to connect more frequently now than the other version I had

I will see what version I have and if there is an update tonight. Hopefully, it will get better. Is there now a profile for S3?

I checked and I had 3.2 Beta 1. I went to the website and other people were having problem so they released 3.2 Beta 2. I downloaded that one and installed it. So far so good. Set it to Auto like they recommended. It also has a keep alive option so I was able to set that and delete my wifi keepalive app. Will keep testing and see if it indeed is fixed now.

Cool Deal.....I just checked mine and it must have updated last night:D

I had forgot that they added our phone, when I replied yesterday I was in a hurry because I was leaving work.
I have always put mine on to stay awake while connected and before when I was having problems I would change back and forth from channel 1 and 6, but keep it on 6 now. I also keep WiFi-driver reload and Routing fix checked.

I'll check it out when i get home today.

Well I've been running the beta 2 for a week now and it is still hit and miss when I try to connect. No better but no worse than the previous versions.:(
