Stinky washing machine

My friend's washer smells to high heaven. She's blaming the pipes. I guess the laundry gets clean, but it doesn't pass the sniff test. Is there some cheap/easy/fast/magic fix?

A few tablespoons of vinenager and some laundry detergent and let that spin over and over.
It should clear up like how much the default timer the laundry set it up for.

It's probably not the pipes but MILDEW behind the drum. We use Affresh washing machine cleaner tabs (they make them for dishwashers, too) and ALWAYS leave the door, and detergent tray, OPEN after use so everything can dry thoroughly.

Also clean out the lint as well, that will cause a fire!
