Stupid Camera sound..

So there's no way to get the camera sound to stop without rooting, well I am using root explorer how do I find the file with the sound? And can I just delete it or will renaming it work as well?

You can turn the camera sound off, its easy and you do so in the camera settings. Just open the camera, click on the gear and then scroll to shutter sound and turn off and no more camera sound.

the galaxy s3 camera app does not have a 'shutter sound' option the gear list?

There is no such option on my international SGS3. I really miss it, though.

I guess root is the only option.

That sux, if it makes you feel any better we don't have the same brightness settings and we don't have the remote phone controls on the US AT&T version. lol

If the phone is in silent the shutter sound does not play.... if this is your only issue then it's not really a big deal!!!

Also looking for a solution to the shutter sound. I've been looking for a few days and haven't found anything. There were no settings options that I could find and muting/vibrate mode still didn't stop the loud shutter.

I found it under Camera settings to turn off shutter sound. I was wanting to do a screen capture to show you.. but found out, during camera on, the palm swipe to capture screen does not work...

Hehe, the only times I've noticed the snap sound on the camera bother me are..

A. at the office when I'm trying to snap a picture of something

B. trying to snap a picture of my girlfriend changing.. :/

But yeah, if you drag the notification down and click the sound button, over to vibrate, it'll get rid of the sound temporarily until you return to full sound mode.. Otherwise, like stated above, it is in the camera settings..

:) happy snapping

Just noticed, ,turning off the shutter sound also turns off the "focused" sound too. that's really stupid.

So is rooting the only way to turn it off for the U.S. version? I'm on Sprint and there is no shutter sound option.

Have no idea which version of the phone you peeps are using but someone just told us all what to do.
I have the AT&T version and if you go into the camera app and select the "Gear" icon in the upper left...............the menu that appears can be scrolled! Use your finger and scroll UP...not down.............tons of other options will appear :)

Sorry...............i do indeed have it on my AT&T S3.

Good example why we should have separate forums or at least the ability to say which carrier we are on !!........... I got home at 6pm and had over 700 (that's correct....700+) postings to go thru of which maybe 5 had a make on the thread title. Wish the "boys" could see this side of the tracks :(

I see no option for silent shutter on a Verizon s3.

Nope it's not on VZW. Now Idgara about the shutter sound but why in the blue hell are there so many changes between carriers? No 4g toggle on VZW does P*** me off, but it's draining battery for no reason and I don't live/work in a 4g area. Even the tech people at the carriers phone emulators are incorrect if they try to walk you through something. Love the phone, but man someone screwed the pooch IMO with all these unnecessary differences.

I don't get it, so muting some phones doesn't mute the shutter? I'm on at&t and I have the mute shutter option. Alternatively, I can mute my phone and this works as well. Why would there be such drastic differences between models?
