I'm an app developer creating a subscription system for our app. After looking at the Google Play subscription service, it doesn't seem to meet our needs as it requires Google Cloud Platform, which we don't want use. One possible solution is to use Stripe, but I'm also looking at managing our own subscriptions using a normal IAP consumable. It won't auto-renew but we can set reminders and make renewing as frictionless as possible. We would likely do the same with the iOS version.
The question is, does anyone know if Google has restrictions on using a Managed product IAP as a subscription? I didn't not see any restriction from Google's documentation on how an IAP managed product is used other than it has to be digital goods.
