I have a stereo in my truck that has a USB input for things like an Ipod or in my case I have a Flash Drive with all my music stored on it. Anyways I was wondering if it's possible to play music that is streamed into my EVO from an App like "Tune In Radio" to my truck stereo? Either thru the USB outlet on the phone or thru the headphone jack? Thanks.

Edit, nevermind. This would be for playing mp3's...

It might work to plug it in and mount the phone as a hard drive. Never tried it...

Ya, I tried that and it played some MP3 that was in a folder on my SD card. I was wondering if I bought a 3.5mm Jack/Plug to USB Data Cable if that would work?

I've never seen one before though to know how they work. Putting out an audio signal into something looking to read a file doesn't seem like it would work. Could even send an electrical charge that would fry the USB drive and/or stereo.

Now, on the other hand. If your stereo has a 3.5mm input on it like mine it will work great. I use a 3.5mm male-male cable all the time to play Pandora and/or mp3's.

You need a stereo with a 3.5mm AUX jack, not a USB cord. The USB port can ONLY be used for accessing flash drives (or devices that can act as a flash drive, like your phone). Since it's looking for files like MP3's, there's absolutely no way any app could communicate with it that way.

There is no such thing as a 3.5mm audio -> USB cable.

I googled that real quick to find the one I posted. A lot of the results were showing something to do with iPhones. I'm guess maybe iPhone can output the file via the 3.5mm to the usb for it to read it just like a flash drive. Not sure how that works.

I know on my head unit the usb port will read from a hard drive or flash drive and pull the folders etc and I can scroll through them and such and play the files ...

I have not (in one attempt lol) had luck getting this to work by mounting the phone to the head unit as a hard drive...the usb port does charge my phone though.

the head unit has bt so I play music that way
