Transferring media to phone without an SD card.

Hi

Is it possible to transfer a picture from my laptop to my phone without an SD card?
I thought it would be possible but when I plugged my phone usb into my laptop, android said

"usb connected-you have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select the button below (Turn on usb storage) if you want to copy files between your computer and your android's SD card"

How do I do it without a card?

Also, I have bluetooth on my phone, is ther anyway I can utilise this so I can, both, send and receive from my computer.

Turn on the USB storage (it should pop up in your notification bar), and it will act like a flash drive. You can then drag and drop files onto your phone. Even if you don't have an SD Card, it will go right to the phone's internal memory.

Yes, you need a SD card, because you'll need your free phone storage of a few MB for installing further apps

You should install a microSDHC card of 4 or 8 or 16 or 32 GB storage capacity.
I'd buy a SanDisk class 4.

SanDisk is a brand of memory cards, Class 4 means its speed class. Try to get something class4 or better.

As for where you buy cards, its different for various countries. In the US, its normal to buy such things from internet markets like Ebay, Amazon etc, in Asia its more common to just head to an electronics store.

I would add that I've seen a lot of people get stung with "fake" cards bought from eBay, i.e. a small card that's been hacked to report its capacity as much higher. Rather than save a couple of $/

I bought my last one from Amazon, but any established vendor should be safe. My current card is a class 4 Sandisk 32GB, which has been fine.
