Trouble rooting ZTE k88(at&t trek 2 hd)

I have a ZTE k88 tablet(at&t trek 2 hd) and have searched high and low on how to root it and cannot find success. I have enabled 'developer privilages', turned 'oem unlocking & usb debugging' on...then tried kingroot, kingoroot, iroot. And just had no success. If anyone had any help ideas suggestions itd be huge thank you!

I also have a Trek 2 HD. I need to root it to get USB Host mode.

Just bought one on Ebay. Surprised there is no section of this forum dedicated to this tablet.

Decent specs and low price.

Root would be nice but ZTE is tough to root (see ZTE Zmax Pro)
