Unihertz (maker of Jelly)

I've been looking at Unihertz, a smartphone manufacturer most famous for their Jelly phone. What do you folks know about this company, and what do you think of them? I'm considering getting one of their small smartphones to be my backup phone.

Never heard of them but I'd be worried about the warranty not covering broken glass, which is not covered. But since this is a backup phone you should be OK. Nice to see a company manufacturing old school options still...

its an off brand device.....i always stay away from them. don't expect a whole lot of support from them. they don't seem to offer any firmware updates(stock rom) and who even knows when or if they will offer updates to their phones.

but then again they are relatively cheap.....so replacing it should not hurt the wallet tooooooo much.

keep in mind that with technology you get what you pay for. so cheap is cheap. keep a very low expectation and you should be fine.

I tend to agree with saying away from off-brands. But the kinds of smartphones Unihertz makes are not kinds I see elsewhere, for example, this modern-day Blackberry (the Titan Pocket):

The thing with physical buttons is, once they start getting wonky you have to get it repaired, versus a virtual keyboard.

I took a chance, and bought myself a Unihertz Atom. I didn't know if it would work out, but it did, and I'm very happy with it! Its small size and rugged nature make it a very good backup phone. To give you an idea of how small it is: Its dimensions are 97 x 45 x 19 mm.
