Update 2.3.6 KK2 or KK5

I am on 2.3.5 rooted KI3. Which firmware to update KK2 or KK5?
Will i lose all my setting after updating?
How to root 2.3.6?
What are the changes ie battery, performance?
Should I update?

I'd go for KK5, seems to be the better of the two. You won't loose settings on your phone if you update to KK2 or KK5 but you will loose your root.

KK2 = official Samsung firmware
KK5 = frankenstein firmware

All that means on KK5 is that it takes components of different firmware revisions, but it is largely based on KK2. I'm about to flash KK2.

I went from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 (KK5) without issue. Data speeds seem slightly faster and battery life seems as good or slightly better than 2.3.3 ( I had good battery life on 2.3.3 ).
Overall I'm pleased with KK5 but there's not a HUGE diff between the two.

it says KK5 has the newer Android market as the the KK2 has the old.
other than that nothing much different. PEOPLE says it is faster on the KK5.

You lose the bouncing affects on 2.3.6 but with the blue blur it is a nice effect and when you take a pic there is a shutter effect and more of a bounce when the picture is taken. And battery life is way better and seems a little faster than stock 2.3.3. Other than that have not seen anything big.

It seems like I have to manually update to 2.3.6 but I don't know which one to get. I just bought the SGS 2 and it came preloaded with 2.3.4. It's an unlocked phone, and not rooted.

Since KK2 is official Samsung firmware, I feel safe to flash that. Are there major differences between it and KK5 though?

Which leads me to my question; what is frankeinstein firmware?

Apologies in advance, I'm new to android.

A frankenstein firmware is someone taking aspects of different firmwares and combining them. I used KK2, but it was targeted to a different region, so some of the apps weren't the same. At least two apps weren't in English. They weren't major apps.
