I've read quite a few threads where someone will update to a newer version of android or a newer version of an app, just because its available. Inevitably some people will encounter problems and wish they had never performed the update.
What I'm saying here is really just common sense, but we don't all think alike and people are having these issues repeatedly.
Don't update without reading about exactly what the update will change first. For even better results and user experience, let others be the guinea pigs...read about the experience of the early adopters here on the forum and you'll see what problems others have encountered and you'll know what to expect.
Read app reviews, people often complain that a recent update has ruined the app from its previous version.
The unofficial ICS releases are a perfect example of some people jumping in blindly for the cool factor and then being sorely disappointed.
Obviously if you're an experienced user and / or rooter, this thread wasn't created with you in mind
