Here's a way to use a custom image from your Gallery on the lock screen if you like to just use swipe for security. From your home screen go to settings, security, lock screen change it to Pin and use an easy to remember number. Now when you go to settings, display, lock screen you can use the plain old Gallery to insert a custom image. After you do that go back to security and set security to Swipe. Now when you go back to the lock screen you'll still see the image you used with PIN. The best part is that now when you go back to settings, display, lock screen wallpaper you'll still have the Gallery option along with the stock Wallpaper images.

I'm using Android 4.0.4 straight from t-mobile.
