[Verizon] Need some help or opinions

I am running CM10.1 rc2 with stock kernel. I have only had it unplugged for 1.5 hrs and already down to 90%. I have not pulled turned the screen on until just now since I unplugged it and saw it was at 90. I have SetCpu with a screen off profile for max CPU 350mhz 100% priority and mainly brightness at low when the screen is on. does anyone have any ideas on what could cause it and any fixes. Or does anyone have any suggestions on alternate kernels. Thanks in advance.

To build upon what UB said:

When I had my GNex, I ran AOKP and used LeanKernel. With that combo I would get about 1.5% battery drain while in standby on WiFi.

Big battery hog is the awesome screen. 4.65" of 720p 316ppi is a big battery hog.

Keep GPS off if you use Google Now or don't use it all together.

Dim your screen indoors to something tolerable.

That's all I got. Best of luck bud.

P.S. Get a spare battery or two and a charging dock for it. When I had my GNex I had four batteries and didn't worry about battery life hardly ever. Just a thought.

Yeah, coming from my LTEvo or S3 back to the gnex this past week has been an eye opener on how far we've come in the last few years.

I'd get 5-6 hours of screen on time on the evo (somehow earlymon regularly gets 8  but thats another story) and I'm lucky to get 2 on the gnex. I've just gotten used to leaving a charger at work.

I've just gotten used to leaving a charger at work.

I've done the same since day 1. It's the only thing that allows me to use my phone for a day. My last 2 phones have been the Gnex and the OG Incredible. Believe me when I say...my next phone will kick ass in the category of battery life. It will absolutely, unequivocally and beyond the shadow of a doubt be my #1 priority. :D

First of all, ignore the 1st 10% of battery 'usage' (100-90%). It is not indicative of your actual battery charge or usage. Below 90%, if you still feel things are dropping too fast, you can turn off certain things that are killing your battery. Here's a blog post I wrote last year with some general tips.

With regards to the 90-100% charge levels...

These devices are smart and designed to prolong the life of the battery by not overcharging. Once the phone hits 100% it actually stops charging and will slowly drain to 94% before trickling back and forth at around 92-96%. Chances are, when you pick up your phone in the morning its not going to read 100%. And even if it does, its not really at 100%! Also, if you've ever noticed how the first 10% seems to drop off really quickly, you might want to take a look at this article which explains why, or tune in to Dianne Hackborn's Google+ feed where she notes that

"Once you get above 90%, I would stop worrying about it. I think most if not all devices need to go through charge/discharge cycles while fully charged to keep the battery life good, so when it is "charged" it will actually be ramping up and down to do that. How this is shown to the user varies across manufacturers, and there is really no clearly right solution -- if you show them the actual changes in level they start complaining and getting concerned about their battery not being at 100%, so it is good to just show it at 100% at this point but then you are giving a little white lie about the actual level."
