Root [Verizon] no playstore after root/rom'd

I have rooted and rom'd my verizon gs3. I have tried the carbon rom and rootboox. I couldn't get either to download the playstore app. I downloaded the apk from 4 shared and then opened it and it closed shortly after. Any suggestions. Also how do I get back all my contacts. I'm assuming I will need ti backup but without the playstore I can't do this.

Are those roms cm based? If they are you'll need to flash the gapps zip which you candownload from the roms thread.

I've moved this over to all things root

thanks for moving this. I did flash it and wa la I now have all my google apps.
