Verizon->Update->Gmail Issue

true, I would just cover all my bases, so when you get on the phone with tech support you can let them know you've tried everything.
 
Ok, the culprit. . . was the MyBackup program.

I put this on the phone because I lost all contacts when the new update came through. . .

So, issue with gmail not syncing on a Eris could be the MyBackup program.
 
I did a search because I was having the same problems. The fix, according to google, was go to menu-settings-applications. Then go to gmail storage and clear data, then back to applications and go to gmail and clear data. Then power dn/up and it should work, at least is did for me.

You won't lose anything stored on your SD card (pics, music, etc.), you can reinstall all your apps after the reset, and your contacts, calendar, etc. should resync from google (just give it some time after the reset, should only take a few minutes). Um, Is there an easy way to change "phone" contacts to "google" contacts? I have 151 of 261 that are labeled "phone". :/ How'd they get that way in the first place? Thanx!
