Root VillainROM 5.5 (With OTA Updates & Stock Rosie)

Had the odd problem with 5.5 but nothing major, and certainly nothing that would stop me recommending it to anyone else.
 
I just found out that the bug concerning the weather widget not keeping the tick in the update automatically box is also happening with my son's Desire.
 
Hi, first post here and first time flashing. Flashed to VillainROM 5.5 no problems except the ones already noted (MMS and split messages I assume). Can't get my Mobile Network to work at all. I'm in the UK and HSDPA/3G/EDGE/GPRS works fine on my stock 1.5 ROM but not on 2.1 at all, regardless of whether Wi-Fi is on or off. Internet works fine over Wi-Fi though. Restored my nandroid backup to stock 1.5 ROM for now and will probably try again and see if it was just a one off problem tonight. Does anybody know why I wouldn't have mobile network? Even when it's ticked, nothing comes up. Also tried updating the radio's but didn't help. I'm running an unlocked european HTC Hero BTW.

Jed2191, you will have to manually put in APN settings, there is a thread elsewhere specifically for that which should have the settings that you require, which typically will only be Name & APN.

Thanks very much Jazman. I will have a look for the thread and reflash to 5.5 tonight and have a shot at it. I'm on an O2 Pay Monthly SIM, if that affects anything, or is this a regular occurance?

Nevermind. I understand there was a bug with the APN settings not being retrieved from the SIM properly, bugfix installed now and APN settings work fine. 5.5 working beautifully here, minus a few hiccups here and there.
 
Am I missing something? I can't for the life of me get my GPS to lock. I've seen that everyone seems to say reboot with it enabled and that'll sort it - however is there a special trick to that? I'm enabling GPS from the widget, powering off then powering on again, still refuses to get a lock. Pre-flash on stock rom, GPS would lock in 5-10 seconds with no problem at all.

Any suggestion muchly appreciated!

edit: Never mind - took absolutely ages to connect first time, but now on subsequent GPS syncs it takes only a few seconds.
