Virgin Mobile phones come with a year of the manufacturer's warranty, which most likely wouldn't cover accidental damage.

Is the damage cosmetic, or does the phone work fine? How much has it cracked? Depending on the damage, it could be considered cosmetic or warranty voiding.

Virgin mobile is pretty laid back when it comes to warranty, they'll send you a replacement under a lot of circumstances, their priority is to keep you as a customer. One reason they don't mind is because the only offer replacements in the form of refurbished phones, the may be refurbished but they look brand new with stickers and everything.

Just call them, tell your phone gets too hot when you place a call or use data and ask for a replacement, and they'll send you one. Again though, it would be nice to see the extent of the damage first. Can you post a picture?

Yeah, if it bothers you that much just go ahead and call for a replacement, I know it would bother me. It may still depend on when you bought the S3, but when you ask for a replacement, also ask if you'll be getting a new or refurbished S3.

Or since it still works and you caused the damage. Put a case on it; it will cover it and protect it from further damage. Taking advantage of a "laid back" return policy is why most places don't have one.

Nah, I still hold a small grudge with VM, and they'll screw you where they can. I bought a One V at retail, and after two months the speakercrapped out and people on the other end sounded garbled. I call them, and they tell me that their replacement phones are out of stock. After two weeks of calling, I had two representatives lie to me about successfully placing a replacement order, even went as far as as give me bogus order numbers that no other rep could pull up. After a month of trying I eventually get a rep that tells me that the phone had since been discontinued, and I wasn't even three months into the warranty. They should have at least had replacements. In the end the guy offered me $60 in VM credit if I voided my warranty, so I got screwed on that end.

You can play the honest card as a consumer, but VM doesn't have to. In the end you will still pay your monthly service fee and you'll get your service and they'll get their money, so lets get real.

Ohh alright thanks, does anyone know cm10.1 will be working on? I don't like touchwiz it gets boring

If the phone is Rooted you need to return it to Stock before you take it in. Rooting the phone VOIDS the Warranty. Also if Samsung decides it is cosmetic and not covered it will be sent back to you or they will charge you the price of the phone.

I've had Virgin Mobile replace a Galaxy s2 that I had previously owned and destroyed the entire screen. Told the first person I talked to that it was my fault and they still replaced it all free of charge with a brand new one.

Yea, I've heard a bunch of stories like this about their customer service. Apparently they don't care what condition its in as long as they get the phone back (probably lazy CS reps) but good for us. :p
