I use a VOIP service for my business lines. When someone leaves a message, I get an email with a .wav file attachment. My voice messages are not playing, when trying to open the attachment, I get error "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."
Here it gets weird, I changed my account settings (something unrelated) and got an automated message from my company in the same .wav attachment. It was able to play fine. So I looked at the advanced options of each file and they were different, although both .wav files.
The file that DID play:
Summary Tab
Bit Rate: 64KBPS
Audio Sample Size: 8 bit
Channels: 1(mono)
Audio Sample Rate: 9kHZ
Audio Format: CCITT u-Law
The File that would return an error message:
Summary Tab
Bit Rate: 13KBPS
Channels: 1(mono)
Audio Sample Rate: 8kHZ
Audio Format: GSM6.10
My question: Why does one play and no the other?!?!? I'm stumped!
Thanks in advance for any help.
