Help what to do with battery

When I get my phone how do I go about "conditioning the battery". I remember I did something with my eris when I first got it but I can't remember. I've looked online and I keep finding conflicting information.

Most people will drain it all the way down till it powers off for the first 3-5 charge cycles. Its debatable how much increases life/performance this gives you. But, I did it and many others have too. Equally true, my battery life week 3 was better than week 1. Now how much of this was due to battery conditioning? Who knows. I also learned what to turn off or turn down to increase battery life so its kind of a holistic thing as well.
There is no down side to conditioning this battery so might as well do it
