my desire hd was lost and i got to decide which one of the following to get this weekend:

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc s
Sony Ericsson Play
LG Optimus 2x
or another..

main thing is speed and memory. also the ability to root

any opinions on the above?

I'd say another.
I would recommend you to get the Galaxy S2. I know it is not mentioned on that list.
But it definetly beats all those. It is lightning speed and with 1GB of RAM you'll never worry about lags or multitasking issues.

yeah galaxy s2 would of been on the list, had it been a bit cheaper! mate in work has got one and it is such a good piece of kit! i may review my budget lol

Most likely, you will be living with whatever phone you choose for at least 2 years (if you're on a contract). I think it's worth it to spend a little more and get the better phone. The cost is small compared to what you pay for the phone service anyways.
