It seems absolutely clear now that, even with the Jelly Bean update, existing International S3 phones won't be able to connect to 4G. Orange/T-Mobile (now to be known as EE) have said that they will launch a new LTE version of the S3 which, I assume will come branded and locked. If there was a no-cost/no-penalty way of exchanging your current S3, would you go for it?
For myself, I've worked out (assuming I've done the conversion properly!) that my 1 GB monthly data allowance equates to an average of only 90 seconds per day, based on my current mobile connection speeds, so I've stopped worrying about missing out on the upgrade in speed.
