Help wireless networks or GPS satellites

when i am using my Map app and i touch "my location" it is not where i am at. I tried it both having on wireless networks and use GPS satellites and both give me the same results. Anybody know what i can do so it can actually show me what my location is at correctly?

Are you outside when you are doing that? Are you giving it a few seconds to let the GPS get a lock on you?

Also on the top tool bar when it shows the satellite icon is are the little waves coming out from it blinking, or are they solid. When you have a satellite GPS lock the little waves will be solid, when it is trying to get a lock they will blink.

I tried both, inside and outside and it shows me that i am about 8 miles from where im actually at.

I had a similar problem until I calibrated my compass, then itworked like a charm. Not sure why that would affect a gps fix but it did.
