Root ROM Manager or Titanium for backup?

Which will allow me to revert to an 'as is' state if I decide to try a custom rom (both...if so - which is better?)

My only gripe now is battery life on the Desire....I'm thinking of trying one of the roms that extend battery life....

Well, ROM Manager uses boots to Recovery and does a Nandroid backup.
This is the best in my opinion and you can restore your everything if you backup and say switch to another ROM.
So if the one ROM does not work for example, you can flash your Nandroid backup and you will be good to go again.
I am pretty sure they both do though (as is state that is).
