Ok, so a couple of silly little issues, that I KNOW can be fixed - save me gurus. By the way - LOVE my INC!!!

1) When visiting websites that require login information like hotmail, bank of america, ebay, and some others, it will not let me login. It simply reloads the signin page. I know some of these have their own apps, but why can't I login using the browser? Is it a settings thing, or can it simply not be done?

2) Picture messages. When I attach a picture to a message (using Handcent), the messages do not go through. It resizes the pictures automatically, but it was unable to send / failed to send the message. Any ideas for this?

3) When I launch the camera app, it actually makes a real noise like when you turn on a regular camera. Is this normal? Don't really mind it, but seems a little odd.

4) When I download a new app, my screen reverts to a stock wallpaper. When I reboot, it returns to my wallpaper. Good reminder to reboot, but kinda annoying. Normal?

5) Travelling to Canada soon, and don't want to mistakenly incure fees for roaming / information. Is there a way to turn off everything except the actual phone (in case i get a call). Want to turn off all transmitting / receiving except phone and messages? How do I do it.

thanks all !!!

I'm not a guru. Just wanted to let you know what I've noticed.

1) dunno
2) I get the same message - and it's annoying. However, so far my recipients ALWAYS get the message.
3) Mine doesn't do that. Is it a setting?
4) Mine doesn't do that. That WOULD be annoying!
5) dunno

LOL, I'll let the true 'gurus' answer you now!

For question 5, turn off the mobile network, that will stop data from being downloaded. Phone calls and SMS messages sent/received while outside the US will cost additional money.

The other stuff is just strange, and is not a problem for me. If it were me, I would go into a Verizon store and show them problems 1 and 4, and request a new phone if they can't fix them.

On #3, my phone does the same thing. It's normal i think. For the others, idk. I would try to do a factory reset, after backing up apps/data. I occasionally see the wallpaper flicker if i use live wallpapers, but never see it revert to a different one. Maybe you could also save the current setup as a new Sense profile..?

1) try going to the browser settings and turning off mobile view.
2) check your camera settings, and set size to 640x480 and resolution to normal. Even though it may "convert" the file, that doesnt always meant that it decreases it to a sendable size. Typically, vzw-vzw mms is 500k, where vzw-nonvzw is 300k.
3) I've heard that a couple times. Not sure on this one. It's not a setting, though.
4) possible conflict with another app. Again, not sure.
5) as has been said- turn off mobile network, which will only allow calls/text. or get the global data plan so you're covered.

1) Hasn't happened to me, weird.

2) I find the best way to send a picture message is this: go to your photos, on the one you want to send hit menu and share, then select the stock messages app when prompted. Type in the recipient, and be sure to hit Edit and add some text. Then hit send, and it goes through every time without an error message.

3) Like a little click? Yeah that's normal.

4) Not normal at all. Perhaps an app is causing some issues.

This isn't true. Just be sure to add text to the message as I described, and it won't matter what size the image is as long as it is under the 1.2mb limit (assuming that is what you've set). I regularly send 800k pictures to ATT and customers and they receive them just fine. Might take a minute or two and be inconsiderate heh, but they wind up with a high quality pic! :p

1) i have logged into the hotmail web page a few times with no problem. check your browser settings, i guess.

2) i don't use handcent, but i'm able to send picture messages normally. the only annoying thing is that they always wind up getting turned into slideshows somehow.

3) i've also heard a shutter noise from my camera, and actually felt an accompanying vibration in my hand while holding it. i'm pretty sure if the camera had a physical shutter we'd have heard about it by now. i don't know what it is. i know the camera seems to draw hella power from the battery, maybe we're hearing/feeling actual electrical activity? seems unlikely...

4) crazy. i've never seen that happen.

5) turn off mobile network, i believe.

all in all, it sounds like you might could do with a good hard reset. the wallpaper changing when you install an app is definitely not normal, and the other things you mention definitely seem unusual. i'd say back up all your stuff and factory reset.

good luck!

1) solved it. either it was by turning off the mobile view or enabling cookies.

2) The weird thing here is that i think the recipient actually gets the picture, but my inc says that they didn't. will keep testing.

3) Like I said, the sound is strange, but the camera works perfectly.

4) Not really an issue - but strange.

5) How do I disable mobile network while keeping phone and messages?
