Speed tests are there to help you find bottlenecks and fix them.
But - I guess they're also there to have yet one more numbers game to play!
I'm wondering how many people have really bothered to check out a speed test on their home network... See -

And if you get a chance - see if you can't run that during a weekday sometime - and then run it again between 5 and 6:30 pm. You might be surprised at what happens to most broadband services at peak hours, when everyone rushes home from work to blog and download.
Also - I've seen complaints in other forums about how accurate it is to get a server closest to home to get the right results and how that is sometimes.
Uh. Well, ok, if that's what people say.
Personally, I tend to not speed test, when I do, out to the general part of the country where the servers are that I'll be accessing for my normal web use.
And I tend to do that when I have problems (such as watching Bab5 for free, online) - so that I can at least get an idea if it's just network congestion or the target server giving me grief.
But - that's just me.
Finally, if there's anyone who just can't get over mobile network speed envy, then your EVO offers a simple solution for that:
- turn off mobile network
- turn on wifi and cheat
- lie your butt off
- profit!
PS -
I want the one with the higher geebee's
Let's not stop there, I say we go for the one with the heebee geebee's!
PPS - Anyone who thinks that speed tests matter for anything else is, in my opinion, missing the entire point of this post. If you still feel bad about your phone, talk to tmaxey1, he has a lot of experience caring about how fast his browser runs and that sort of thing.
