Best Buy, $99.99

Interesting... BB does price match even to their own web ad's. Hitch is this shows it is for NEW customers only. Existing lines still show at $179. I went to BB just this Friday to get $50 back from my purchase price prior to my 30 days passing. I should go and argue for the additional $30, lol, but not sure if I will get it.

$99 is an insane price for this phone... wow. If you are adventurous you can call Sprint too, they will price match as well, but it takes getting the right person on the phone.

I haven't made my hero purchase yet, might be buying two of them. I am pondering whether it's worth the effort to try to get sprint to do it.

I am in a weird situation as I will be sharing a family plan, but the other party will be in a different state. I have to buy the phones, set them up, ship one off, then call sprint to port the phone numbers over.

Is Sprint pretty good about everything even when purchasing from BB? I have heard that people are told to just go there if they have a hardware issue.

Would my second party need to have a copy of the BB receipt if he needed service?

(I know I've hijacked this, sorry)

Well, I have been with Sprint for almost ten years now, and have nothing but good service from sale to support. I used to travel around the country a lot while I was still working, and had nothing but good service in all the major city centers I would visit and good coverage even in many remote areas.

I feel comfortable in recommending them. ;)

Glad I could help.

Someone already commented on it, but I just called my local BB, and they confirmed they would price match the web site's price.

Good to know. My BB opens in about an hour. I printed out the web page and will head down there this AM. I just bought two of the Heros at $179.00 for my wife and myself. We are already very happy with the Hero. This is just more icing on the cake. Thanks again swany11.

Just so all know best buy insurance is horrible It Is not the same as a corporate Sprint store

If you damage your phone the first time is free after that it is a 15 to 30 dollar deductible they charge you just to look at the phone once they have figured out what is wrong they will then charge for the labor and parts .

Plus this is shipped out so you have to wait for It to come back where I live I have multiple Sprint repair shops that I can just drive to but that's how it Is where I am cant speak for everyone

Bottom line Sprint corporate store charges you when you lose the phone but everything else is free except water damage etc. Best buy first repair free except losing phone but after that you are charged for any little problem so its a amazing price but in my opinion horrible insurance .

Yeah, I was so happy with $129, $99 is insane... I think I might get another one at that price. Lol... it won't be there long I bet ya'.

cheri, just get the phones and shop afterwards, nation wide long distance would negate porting - no?
Anyway, Sprint is ok via phone, I found calling after 6pm eastern and you get just American operators, lol, no offense but it does help when toy have a complication to be able to communicate effectively.

I was lucky enough to get my Hero at Best Buy for $129 with the Rewards Coupon. I spoke to ten people at Sprint (about half were from the 'retention dept') and none of them would price match. I had just ordered it from their site before the BB deal was available. They all pretty much told me to just return it to Sprint and buy the one at Best Buy if that was what I preferred. Even the store was surprised but said they are not allowed to price match in store.

If you have been with Sprint long enough then call retentions if your near the end of your contract. Tell them that Best Buy has the phone for $99. Just threaten to cancel and go to ATT if they will not honor the $99 for upgrade. It worked for me when the original HTC Touch came out and Radio Shack was offering it to new customers at $99 and Sprint was at $199 for upgraded customers. It also depends on the retentions department and who you get. Some will just say ok cancel no problem but the others will do there best to keep you with Sprint. They will and should do everything they can to keep old customers.
