Root how can I use a lockscreen from one Rom on another?

I would like to take the lockscreen from aloysious and put it on senseless. I have root explorer and ninjamorph, if either of those will help.

I figured I could replace the files using root explorer. I don't know where they are though, or if it could even work.

Can you be more specific? Do you want the Nexus lock screen (the one with the lock/sound sliders at the bottom of the screen)?

Yes, it slides left to right to unlock, right to left to mute, the bars are black and the unlock picture is blue, mute Orange (i think).

If you delete or simply rename HtcLockScreen.apk from /system/app you will get the vanilla lockscreen. Just rename HtcLockScreen.apk to HtcLockScreen.bak and reboot. That way you can just revert the filename back if you're not happy with it for some reason.

Unfortunately, this does NOT change the lockscreen on incoming calls. I have yet to figure that out. Only solution I've found for that is using a non-sense based ROM like CELB 2.8 for example.

Oh yea, also, I recommend doing a NAND backup first just in case.

Sorry man, I have no idea. You may want to search on the xda forums. I believe the lockscreen data is in the framework.apk file.

I like the Nexus One lock screen but when you delete the lock screen file in the Eris the N1 is only transparent. Is there a way to put a background on it? I have a clock widget on the home screen and the clock on the clear N1 lock screen clock covers it up.

It depends on which ROM you're using, but check this out:

CELB2.8 has a non-transparent vanilla lockscreen by default.

Googling around suggests the data that needs to be changed ( to remove clock and verizon wireless text ) will be in an xml file. Several files are suspect but nothing permanent has worked. At least from what I've read.

Is there an app for editing these xml files? I've hardly even heard of xml much less edited any...

Also I haven't found any info on haptic feedback. Would that too be in xml?

I think you can edit with notepad or textedit, but I don't remember. If not, check this out:

I know I'm digging up an old thread, but I'm curious if anyone knows how to do this? I too would like just a clear Nexus One lockscreen without a clock and "Verizon" (like the one in Aloysious). Using XTRROM 4.6.

If you're willing to switch to a Froyo ROM, you can remove the carrier info in the CyanogenMOD settings menu. I know I was using the N1 Lockscreen with a sense ROM for a little while and it drove me crazy to see that effin' grey bar reappear when I had an incoming call. IMHO, if you hate the Sense lock, then you should switch to a Froyo ROM and solve all the other problems you listed, too.
