Double Notifications with Handcent

Bet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?

After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

Has anyone any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks in advance

If I turn on notifications in the stock app I get two notifications. This makes me think it's another app doing it. When you click on the notification it loads default sms app. I now have Handcent uninstalled and the issue still exists. It's not Gmail client either. Are there any other apps that cause sms notifications?

If you have beautiful widgets 2, remove it. I had a similar problem where I was getting multiple notifications. If I left handcent on, then turned the stock on I would get 3 notifications. If I turned all of them off then i would still get one. Once I removed beautiful widgets 2 it solved all my problems.

Uninstall Handcent and never use it again. I did and couldn't be happier. I used the damn thing since I got my Droid in November and being a new VZW customer I assumed it was the provider. I just dealt with it even though it was very common and frustrating. I finally uninstalled Handcent a couple months ago and I haven't had a double or triple text since. I'll never go back to that bloated slow turd. Factory SMS FTW!
