So i rooted my droid yesterday thanks to the help of some of yall! so maybe i can get somemore. So i just rooted, now what? i dont know how to overclock.. tried but then idk what a kernal is or how to instal one, i want a custom rom. I think? but once again i dont know anything about it. Im not an idiot so please no dumb comments, just never done this before. Links, comments, hints, everything is welcome. Thanks guys!

I do it the Lazy way :) ...

I have rom manager premium and thats where I get my roms and kernels. You need SetCpu for overclocking.

download the free rom manager in the market (must be done first) then download the paid version (well worth it) then download SetCpu.
open rom manager and flash clockwork (on Top).

I have jrummys Kangerade blueberry installed and after that I went with jdlfg's LV1.2 kernel.

hope this helps ... Happy roming !!! :)

you can get flash from Droid-Life or here if you search for it.

Also i am running 2.2 and dont know how to get flash player. Did the root from droid life's walkthrough

If you have a 2.2 ROM, you can download Flash 10.1 Beta 3 from the market.

I second the ROM Manager suggestion. It makes things super easy (not that the SPRecovery method is hard)

I apologize if it's bad taste to suggest another forum, but droidforums.net has a slightly more organized ROM section to get a feel for what each ROM has to offer.

I personally recommend cyanogenmod as it actually offers features no(few) other ROMs do. Sapphire is another that is getting better every day.

I don't want to sound like I'm knocking the others, as I honestly haven't tried many of them since I found CM, but they seem to be little more than themed stock ROMs with a few tweaks.

so everytime i put a new rom or something on there now i have to wipe the whole phone? i downloaded appbrain but when i went to sync it all it did was erase all my apps that it had stored on the internet and sync the few apps it came with instead of redownloading all my old apps

If you are going from a 2.2 ROM to 2.2 ROM, generally you won't have to wipe. Same if going from 2.1 to 2.1 ROMs.

If you have issues with apps or force closes, however, first question is always going to be 'did you wipe data/cache before installing the ROM'. If the answer is 'no', guess what the recommended troubleshooting step will be? ;)

As far as the Appbrain, it is a separate market from the Google Market. Check in the 'Market' app and see if they are still listed in your Downloads page. I wouldn't think it would wipe all the apps already on the phone, but I haven't actually played with it yet.
