Question for Slingbox / Slingplayer Mobile users

Seeing as I typically would only use this to watch NBA games on the go, I wasn't exactly head-over-heels to see the Slingplayer release AFTER the NBA finals ended. Well, the new season is a few months away and so I'm getting in some preliminary research done...

If my primary usage of the slingstuff is going to be watching NBA games on the go (mostly on my phone on 3G, and maybe a little bit from my netbook but not often) which Slingbox should I get?

Basically I don't want to pay extra for features I won't be able to use via the Android client, but I don't wanna go too cheap and end up with a crappy picture because of it. I'd like to be able to make out the different players at the very least

I have the Solo. Bear in mind you have to look at how you are going to hook it up @ home more so than the picture (a lot to do with your connection more than the slingbox itself).

I have the solo hooked up to a bedroom TV/Dish Network that doesn't get used that much. Remember, once you connect, you control the TV. So if you want to watch Channel 43 and the folks @ home want to watch channel 21...no can do.

With the Solo I get a very good picture (I get an HD picture...but not HD quality due to bandwidth, etc.). I watched the World Cup and watch baseball at work all the time and have zero complaints.

Read the reviews at Newegg. They happen to have the Solo on sale. The ProHD gives you more "bells and whistles" but I doubt much better picture quality because that's more the quality of your connection. I was using 4G with my Evo.

Vegasden is correct, there won't be any difference between the 2 current models in the picture quality when watching remotely. The limiting factor is your UPLOAD bandwidth on your home connection. Basically the solo requires connection to a tuner, whether it is cable box, satellite, dvr, etc. The Pro HD has a built in tuner in addition to extra connections. I have Directv attached to the composite, the coax to an external antenna (the built in tuner works great) and the HDMIcomponent cable is attached to the Blu-Ray (which allows me to watch Netflix)

The only port missing is the S-Video, and I am attaching a security camera to it

So, that's just something you can do with the PRO-HD, but most important is your ISP upload speed. That will determine how good of a picture you get. I have a 1Mb upload,and get decent picture

So what you're saying is, if I get a blu-ray player (or any box) with built-in Netflix streaming, I have netflix on my phone?

Slingbox PRO HD is great. The component in is definitely worth it for DVR HD streaming. The only problem I've run into so far is getting my Roku Netflix player working on the mobile app. I've set it up so it runs perfectly when I try to watch netflix via slingbox on the desktop but on the mobile app it doesn't display the navigation remote for the roku player so I can't select a movie and play it. Other than that this thing is rad

Edit: A user on the sling forums has solved the roku player issue with a custom remote that works great! http://answers.slingbox.com/message/9342#9342

I still can't believe they have not come out with a model that supports HDMI...
