HTC Eris Reboots everyday

Ever since the Droid Eris 2.1 OTA update 7/18/10, my phone reboots unexpectedly once or twice per day.

I had no problems like this with 1.5, the update to 2.1, it started after the latest OTA update. The OTA installed without any problems.

Anybody with a similar problem or a solution?

Thanks

Spontaneous reboots are usually reported in rooted devices that have been aggressively overclocked.

If I had a stock Eris doing that I'd try a factory data reset first.

If the situation remained I'd head to the store.

And welcome to the forums.

Thanks. Not rooted. Stock Eris. I would try the factory data reset, but it appears there is controversy in this forum about the effect of factory reset and 3G access.

We Eris users have to stick together--on the Verizon support page we are now relegated to the "Other phones" category of Adroid phones.

To me, unpredictable, spontaneous reboots warrant a remedy of some sort, and the only ones available for that in a non-rooted Eris are the reset or the exchange for another device.

I have two co-workers and one friend who have Erises with the OTA, all three phones work great; my friend and one co-worker do factory data resets once per month as the last step in their maintenance of the device following a full backup. The other co-worker did one last night for me.

3G works fine for all of them as of this morning.
