I hate to bring nagativity into the boards but...

The Evo 4G made an impressive showing as the very first 4G phone back in June, but as you can see, it doesn’t hold up nearly as well under the microscope in other categories – at least when stacked against the best other smartphones in the world. The real fight here is between the iPhone 4 and Samsung Captivate.

He/she must be out of his mind.

I wanted to let you know what Digital Trends think of the Evo compared to iPhone and Samsung Captivate. It is rather clear that Digital Trends seems to think the Evo was barely even worth mentioning in their smartphone comparison between iPhone 4, Samsung Captivate, and the Evo.

That's a very interesting comparison...

They were hypocritical right from the start with the Display comparison. How so? They claim that the Evo loses because they are evaluating a phone, not a media player... but then later they compare the phones based on the media interactions (ie, the video conferencing). Like I said, interesting.... But biased? I dunno...

Portability, they called it a paperweight and dismissed it because it's huge...
The Captivate is 2.5"x0.39" and it won over the iPhone at 2.31"x0.37". The Evo is 2.6"x0.50"... The 0.10x0.11 difference doesn't seem to be a big deal to me when you get 0.30 more screen. Granted, the Evo is about 33% heavier. I would still say that the Evo is the most portable given the offerings of the phone. And if not judging on offering/size, then the only way to judge is that smallest=winner. Neither of those criteria were used, so I'm sitting here thinking WTF? Interesting... Biased? Maybe...

Video Conferencing, the iPhone wins because... umm... you don't have to log in. They completely dismissed the main difference between the two, which is that the iPhone cannot Video Conference unless it is connected to wifi. The Evo isn't restricted to wifi. Biased? I'd say so.

Battery Life, they disqualify the Evo right out of the gate based on the use of an attribute that neither of the other phones possess (4G). This is especially strange because their criteria is based around talk time and standby... That's a very interesting argument to make... it's like saying that if the Evo left the video camera running during the standby test, it would lose. Biased? Hell Yeah

Then they avoid at all costs the internet speeds. After they brought it up as a disqualifying attribute in another comparison. They toss it in, giving it a passing mention when comparing the processor speeds. I'm speechless.

They dismiss the Evo on the storage before going into the expandable memory with the other phones. The iPhone should be in DEAD LAST for this category. Biased? &*$% YEAH

Again... interesting article :p

Nice takedown...that was a pretty lame review.

It's funny how in the front-camera department the iPhone wins because you don't need to login into a separate app for it. On the Evo, you can videochat with people who are on the computer or other smart phones while connected to the 3G/4G connection, but on the iPhone, you're limited to videochatting with other iPhone users on a WiFi connection. To me, that seems like a much larger advantage to the Evo that makes up for the small hassle of logging into Fring. Whoever wrote this article is a moron.

I actually read this earlier and couldn't help but laugh. I switched from an iPhone3gs to the EVO and have never been happier. I was at a party last week and a guy with an iphone4 nearly jumped through the roof trying to get out of how seat to come take a look at my EVO, it was too funny. I did hold his iphone4 for just a second, but had trouble viewing the small screen so I gave it back to him. :)

I just wanted to share this ridiculous article found on Yahoo News today, claiming the iPhone was a better "bang for your buck" than BOTH the Evo & Captive. Apple iPhone 4 vs. Samsung Captivate vs. Evo 4G - Yahoo! Shopping

Biased? Definitely. Blatant lies? Absolutely. I bet someone from Apple paid them to write this crap.

[I realize now that this should be under "Reviews." Can someone please move it? Thanks.]

The reviews seemed ok to me, except the part about video chat. they failed to mention that face time was only between iphones with both over WiFi whereas the evo can do it with any phone over 3g, 4g or WiFi. I will admit the iPhone display is amazing. No question which is better. Everything else our evo can either match or beat.
