RC1 vs Darch 2.7

I was wondering if anyone can recommend RC1 over 2.7? 2.7 seems to be running fine with me, I just don't feel like flashing RC1 Froyo unless there is some big difference in performance or features. Anyone?

Not much difference. After trying out rc1 I went back to using Darchdroid 2.8 as it seems smoother and quicker overall. I would suggest you make the jump from 2.7 up to 2.8 but you will need to do a full wipe first.

Well one biog reason for switching would be the newer Google apps like Voice search and Chrome to phone. I dont tend to use them often, but when I do I am glad they're there.

RC1 with uncapped kernel is very snappy and runs programs faster than 2.1. The new camera has more options built in, like tons more, ISO, effect, white balance, like a normal digital camera. There hasnt been too much else that I can think of right now thats much different, but overall 2.2 definitely is (going to be) better. I say that because its still being developed, and isnt 100 percent, and stability is a big one for me.

Make a nandroid, wipe and flash 2.8, definitely an improvement over 2.7. Then try out Froyo. Worst case scenario, you dont like it and can flash back to 2.7/8.

Did not like DD2.8 at all. Was kind of buggy for me, lots of FC'ing of various services and apps, a few random reboots here and there (didn't have JIT enabled). Heard from quite a few people 2.7 is much better..

RC1 has been GREAT for me so far. Probably the best ROM I have used yet (well, perhaps... I also really love ZenEXP OC'd to 710 and with Launcherpro..). It isn't without it's quirks, but have been using it as my day-to-day now (well, that, and the few previous nightlies before it). Combined with the newest Decad3nce uncapped kernel and the battery tweak for Froyo roms, it's a completely different/much better phone now. We all have our own opinions, so at the least, like stinky said, you can just make a nandroid, and reflash if you decide to.

Nearly an identical experience. I would recommend RC1 as a daily.

I've been running DD2.8 for nearly a week and experienced no FC, but three random reboots. Ran the random reboot fix, though, and everything is good, so far.

I had been running DD 2.7 for several months. Flashed the new CM nightly. Will report back on how they compare.

Ok, quick review because I am at work:

If you are on the fence about trying RC1, I suggest you do it. Actually, I take that back, flash a nightly. Then flash the uncapped kernel then the collin_ph battery tweak. I have been running this for a few days now, and I have to say that it is quite nice. Granted, the nightlys do have a bug here and there, but they aren't anything to complain about. I plan on flashing the newest nightly today (if I have time) as I've heard it fixes a bug with the gallery. Other than that, this ROM is nice. If you like AOSP, I suggest you try it out. The speed is there, lock screen lag does not exist, the camera has some sweet functions (zoom, and much much more), the apps can backup to your SD card without you having to partition it (i haven't done this yet as I don't feel the need to), and the best thing (or at least one of) is that your apps will auto install from market after this. So if you use this, your apps are backed up to your google account, and will automatically download and install for you. No more need for titanium backup or anything similar.

I will keep you posted as I try it out more, but again this is the beauty of having a rooted phone; Try shit out. If you don't like it, go back .
