Root Rom of my choice

I have to give props out to the Aloysius rom. I have read all kinds of posts about how Xtrom is the best and how it is so fast and nothing can compare, but I have tried them all and I always come back to the Aloysius rom. For me, it seems to be as quick as xtrom and quicker then any other. The graphics are fantastic, and i have had zero issues with it. Just my two cents, but I thought i would share if someone is looking for a great rom.

I'm in agreement about that ROM, and I remember a time several weeks ago when Aloysius was it for me on my device, and xtrROM was a close second.

As I think back, the xtrROM won me over by its pro-active developer more than the differences in the ROMs.

Also, identical tweaks and configuration between the two resulted over time in better menu and app loading response on my Eris for the xtrROM over Aloysius, but not by much.

I tend to test ROMs for longer periods, intentionally, than the average rooter, I think (not completely sure of that), because I've noticed that keeping a ROM running for a week or so will give me a much better idea along the user experience lines than having a ROM in there that is basically new to me; positive and negative impressions washing out with each day of use.

each person has different tastes, i personally hate sense based roms, i go back to one to give it a shot and see the widgets etc and wonder why i ever left...then after waiting for the dialer or home screen to load for 10 minutes it hits me

sense looks good, but its too heavy and lumbering for my taste. theres a CM based rom that has *most* of the feautures of a sense rom though, suave smush even has the images from a sense rom. i think it all comes down to ho you use your phone

I agree each person does have different tastes, but I must be one of the few that has not had dialer or home screen lag. My phone seems just as snappy as it did on xtrom. And I can see Frisco's point of view about have a developer that is active with updating a rom. That is why it makes me wonder what the developer of Apl could do if he worked with this rom even more because he pretty much got it right and stable the first couple of times around.

well the eris version is only a port. and the main dev hasnt done any updates so idk how much further its going to go. its kinda perfect at this point isnt it?

Yes. I have no complaints. It is great!

I agree. Aloysius has been the best performing ROM that I've tried (including XTR). The graphics of the Snow version are awesome.

I read that the dev has moved on to another phone, so don't expect any more updates to Aloysius - which is fine with me, as I'm not aware of any changes that need to be made to this ROM.
