HTC Incredible vs. Motorola Droid X

I am planning on purchasing a Verizon phone running Android and need some advice. I have it narrowed down to either the HTC Incredible and the Motorola Droid X.

I am planning on rooting whichever phone I get and putting in a custom ROM, something as close to the stock Android OS as possible. I just want to remove all the crapware that both the phones have on them.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Which is more difficult to root and install a new ROM the HTC Incredible or Motorola Droid?

2) Is it actually possible to install the stock Android OS from Google on either of these phones?

Thanks.

If you can wait a few more weeks, the Sumsung Fascinate is coming to Verizon which is a far superior phone than the two above. :)

If you read this comparison of the Fascinate and the X on DigitalTrends.com, the X comes out the winner. Personally, after playing with the X for a while and reading whatI can about the Fascinate, I would choose the X.

A quick glance of this so called comparison and I know it is not entirely impartial. But of course, different strokes for different folks. :)

To me, the SuperAMOLED on the Fascinate is far superior than TFT (and almost all the critics on the internet agree, except DigitalTrend.com). The finish of the Fascinate has more high-end look than the X. The X is too plastic looking. The X will become a brick when you try to modify it. When you turn on the X, it announces "Droid" which might please some guys, but it turns off many female customers.

The X is definitely a very good phone. But comparing to other high-end phones like the HTC EVO, the Galaxy S series, and the iPhone, it just does not stack up. :)
