Root Upgrading to 4.0.6.1

I have xtrROM 4.0.4 installed and its working great. I do have an issue with my Gmail coming in late though. I had a reminder from my Google calendar yesterday at 1pm, and I got the email for it today @ 4:30pm. I saw when 4.0.6.1 came out it said on a post here "fixes the Gmail Sync issue". Is this the issue I'm seeing?

Since I have everything running how I want, is it worth upgrading to 4.0.6.1? Do I have to do a full wipe and reinstall everything? Or can I flash right on top (after a NAND backup of course)?

Thanks,
Harry

Yes, this will fix that gmail sync issue. Sorry to say, yes, you will need to do a full wipe.

You can purchase a copy of Titanium Backup, backup all of your user apps, wipe and flash the ROM, install Titanium and restore all missing user apps, if you wish; that will at least make things easier for you.

See Titanium Backup for Android ? Official Site . It truly is worth the donation, IMHO.

OK, I'll try that. I'm looking in the Market right now and all I see is the free version. Reading the short description leads me to believe that I may not be able to do a restore. Is that not correct? Would the paid version be better? And do I have to download it directly?

Thanks,
Harry

The free version will let you restore, but you would need to do it app by app, manually. The donate version lets you batch restore - they all restore in the background without having to verify anything.

The for-pay version is not in the market - you have to follow the link above and donate with PayPal. The developers will email you a file that you put in your SD card that converts the free app to the paid app.

So, to get all of the features:

- download the app from the market. You cam batch backup your apps with the free app

- follow the link in my first post and make a donation ($3.99 buys you a license). You will eventually get an email with a license file. Copy that file to the root of your SD card and the next time that you start Titanium, it will be the full version

I've put the 4.0.6.1 rom on twice now, and both times it'll boot to the "xtrCustom" animation for a few minutes, then it seems to reboot itself back to the "HTC Simply Brilliant" splash screen. It does this over and over. I've re-downloaded and re-flashed the ZIP file but it still does it. Should I just let it got for a bit longer or revert back to 4.0.4?

Thanks,
Harry

This happened to me as well until I wiped the ext partition. If you had apps2sd set and have apps in that partition, try wiping them? Speaking of wipes, you did do them? An upgrade to 4.0.6 and higher is a full-wipe upgrade.

I did the full wipe before the first flash, but not the 2nd (when I re-downloaded the zip and copied it to the card). Once I did the factory reset again and re-flashed, it booted up. I just restored my apps from Titanium Backup and I'm getting things re-tweaked.

However, I do see that for some reason, I'm getting the "Low space" warning. I only have 8 meg left on the internal memory, even though I had apps2sd and cache2sd configured from the last ROM. I have 3.5 gig on the card (even though I had 4.5 when I started this). When I try to run the 2 scripts via GScript, I get errors saying that /sys can't be found and that the filesystem is readonly. What gives with that? How can I get the apps back to the SD card?

Thanks,
Harry
