This was briefly posted before a few months ago with no resolution (http://androidforums.com/incredible-support-troubleshooting/73872-google-voice-draining-battery.html).

However, I would like to bring it up again. I have used the phone with google voice since day 1 and my battery life was mediocre at best.

I hear/read stories of people hitting 20+ hours with the phone on stock battery with battery saving settings worse than mine : /

No widgits on, syncing is not overdone, no gps, no games, etc. But after rooting and setCPU i still barely make it through the day. The only difference I think is google voice. I feel like it constantly checks for updates and drains the power.

Anyone else have this issue? Or info regarding this? What are your guys' battery life using google voice/without.

Note: When I connect to WiFi at home my battery life improves significantly which leads me to believe its a data transfer issue. Which could mean google voice.

uninstall it for a couple days and see (or even a day). If you have Titanium backup you can just freeze it and see if battery improves.

I don't ever see google voice show up on systempanel but it's really only showing cpu activity.

Edit: You may also want to put this in the applications forum instead of just the Incredible Subforum. More eyes = better chance of an answer

If you mean google voice mail I haven't noticed anything. I've changed my kernel and got set cpu. Then I set the cpu to 245 -460, scaling to powersave when the screen is off. Now instead of 22 - 23 hours I get 38 - 48 hours on my phone. Could just be there's some other bloatware draining the battery. Because I've always had my wifi on all the time, and my gps on all the time. Oh and my weather checks every hour, when I unlock my screen, and when I tap the wallpaper. My live wallpaper is set to "power hog" too. LOL!

I just installed Google Voice (or started using it) on my Evo and I noticed the battery drain a lot quicker even with the same usage as before. Earlier I could leave my evo the whole day without having to charge it but today by 2pm the battery was down to 7%. The phone seemed warmer to touch as well.

That is when I decided to look online and found this thread. I will turn google voice off and see if it makes things better.

Can't wait to see the results! This could be it, I've been using GV since day one, and my battery life is worse than most people here.
