Tethering on PC w/o admin rights

I have a HTC Droid Incredible which just got the Android 2.2 Froyo OTA update. My work PC runs Win XP SP3 and I do not have admin rights. I do not want to root my phone.

I am trialing easytether; haven't tried pdanet yet. Is there a way to tether the PC? I cannot install software on the PC because I don't have admin rights so USB tethering seems to be out. What about wireless? Froyo has Mobile Hotspot, but it seems to only work with Verizon's paid Mobile Broadband service. What about Bluetooth?

Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Your work pc.... have them give you admin rights and pay for your usage. Or if they do not want to give you admin rights simply ask them to install it.

The Incredible is my personal phone and in any event they wont pay for Mobile Broadband. The IT dept will not install any unsanctioned software on the PC, especially something like pdanet or easytether.

As long as I don't mod the work PC I'm OK. So wifi or Bluetooth would be perfect.

I read that pdanet can connect through Bluetooth DUN or PAN, how does that work? Does anything need to be installed on the PC?

Froyo has enabled Mobile Hotspot on the Incredible. Is there a way for PDAnet or EasyTether to work through that to create an AP?

I am betting they do not have their network set up for those permissions either. Why would you want to set that up on your works network anyway? If you are trying to bypass their security, that won't.

If you have froyo with the mobile hotspot what else do you need and why would you need PDANet or easytether to use it? Just enable it and connect the laptop to the network.

You're right, that is the easiest way. I just backdoor the VZW Mobile Broadband connect (##778 DUN reprogram) and use the built in Froyo Mobile Hotspot. Bingo free wifi and nothing to change on the PC.

BTW, for those that want to know, there is no way to do it with EasyTether, it has to use USB which requires installation on the PC. With PdaNet there is the option of Bluetooth DUN which doesn't require installation on the PC but you have to play with the Bluetooth settings which are a PITA.
