Hello all.
Had a horrible experience with Sprint regarding the Samsung Moment that I bought. Broken then sent a broken replacement. Just sent my third..Complained enough that they allowed a courtesy upgrade 8 months early. So far I love the Epic. I have a question or three if someone could help. Been reading and searching but I think I am too wired to see answers at this point.
Is the voice dialer only a software option or does one of the hardware buttons activate it as well? Also with 4G..I live in a city which carries it. Should I have it running all of the time? I notice that when I turn it on it looks like it goes to sleep sometimes. What is the story when that happens or when you are driving thru in an area that doesn't have it and it is activated on the phone.
One last question.. I have been on the unlimited everything plan for a long time..First Day Instinct. I just saw this 69.99 everything plan?..Have I been paying too much to use my Moment and Now the Epic? I understand that there is a 10 dollar a month up charge for this phone. I am just wondering what my plan at 120 a month with fees gives me that the cheaper "everything plan" doesn't.
thanks in advance for any answers.

Hi. I'm a Sprint employee and Epic owner. First I want to say 'Thanks!' for sticking with us after your problems. i'm sorry you had so many issues with the Moment but I'm confident you will enjoy the Epic.

There aren't any h/w buttons for voice dialer. There may be 3rd party apps that can re-assign any of the external buttons to launch any other app, but not included natively. Out of the box it's software activated only. Same with voice search, voice directions, etc.

You should enable 4G when you plan on using a lot of data; downloading large files, streaming videos, etc. It will show the 'Zzzz' when the data stream stops for a period of time, not sure what the time value is. That 'sleeping' is designed to preserve battery life, but it's just best to enable 4G when you need it and disable when you don't. It's a whole separate radio and takes a toll on the battery.

I think when the Instinct came out we had fewer Everything options. Now we have a few, including the $69.99+$10 data premium/450 Min Everything text and data plan. It gives you unlimited calling to any domestic mobile anytime, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7p, unlimited texting, picture mail and web. The 450 minutes applies to landlines, M-F, 7a-7p.

If you think the 450 Anything plan serves your needs better then please call Sprint customer service (*2 on your phone) and ask them to convert your service to the new plan. Or you may be able to change your plan online once you log into your Sprint account from sprint.com.

Hope this helps you out. Thanks for being a Sprint customer!
