Root Rom Updating Help!

I flashed my Motorola Droid to cricket, or actually the cricket tech did. And it works, internet, phone, txt, gps. all.

I currently got

Firmware version: 2.0.1
Kernal version: 2.6.29-Smoked_Glassadamz@ubuntu #9
Build Number: Smoked Glass v5.0

I think its 5.0.1 rom was on memory card.

And im wanting to update to 2.2 or atleast 2.1 to get new features. BUT KEEP everything the same, my flash to cricket mobile and everything.

I just want to update it or install different rom maybe. but i dont want to lose my flash / internet, phn, txt, gps to cricket.

How would i go about doing this, i got Rom mangager, and am willing to pay for full version, but i need to know ill still have my FLASH TO CRICKET working and all. say if i installed a different rom, or updated somehow but kept root, and flash?

How i go about doing this?????
I dont want to pay for a new flash from cricket guys, and i dont really want to flash it myself, since i only have one phn n its the droid and idk if i know all info for it.

Please help, thanks

Wow, I don't even know what the hell Cricket is so I don't know that I will be much help.

But, I think one simple piece of advice is (yes, get the full version of Rom manager) to make a Nandroid backup in Clockwork Recovery and then try whatever you wish and if it blows up just restore back to the Nandroid backup and you will be back where you started.

I back the living daylights out of everything myself, because I never want to be thoroughly screwed.

I make a nandroid backup and move a copy to my PC. I make a full Titanium Backup backup, and I use Mybackup Pro and make another backup. I also use Appbrain which keeps all my Apps handy.

So, do something like that and give it a shot and then just restore if it sucks.

Backup and restore makes even a semi-idiot like me look pretty smart.

Cricket is a cdma company similar to verizon, but most plans are limited and or unlimited. More of a regional carrier that buys time from other carriers. Most cdma phones flash to cricket. Talk to the tech to make sure that you can go to 2.2 without losing flash.
For a second there i thought it was a spammer. alot of the stuff you said i know, isnt needed. Last part thanks, i might do that. Anyone else though know them selfs that how i can go about doing this???
