oh. I see. where can I find these roms? and maybe a place for some cool apps? I just really don't know where to go or what I can do from here. your assumption is very correct, ive only just rooted this phone.
No problem. But you are probably going to want (need) to do some reading and research (which will be enlightening and informative in and of itself).
Here's a good place for root-only apps (don't worry that its in the Droid X forum):

Also, if you do decide to flash a new ROM, your normal sequence of events for flashing a new ROM would be as follows:
1. Perform a Nandroid backup (always do this before a "major" change)
2. Do any wipes (usually at least 'Wipe Data/Factory reset' and sometimes 'Wipe Dalvik-cache' (the dev's ROM thread will usually direct you if you need to do this second wipe (especially for Froyo ROMs))
3. Flash your .zip (ROM) from sdcard
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy your new ROM!
Here are some threads for folks like you that are looking for a good ROM to start with. Keep in mind, though, you don't have to leave your current setup (you can already install root-only apps and tweak what you have to overclock):

Also, here's a thread over on XDA that has a "ROMS" section with links to various dev ROM threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756775 (its a good place to go to read through what other folks have said about a particular ROM).
Otherwise, just peruse the various threads over here at AF and see what folks are posting about (just like you have). I'm also sure that you'll get lots of other input and feedback from folks.
Cheers and good luck (happy ROM hunting)
